What to Do with Kids During a St. Augustine Vacation?

Looking for a list of things to do in St. Augustine with kids to keep their busy minds entertained? Our St. Augustine Beach rentals offer a great home base to explore and have fun! From gators to popsicles, we cover some of our favorite kid-friendly activities.

St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park

The Alligator Farm simply can’t be mixed. Less of an alligator farm per se and more a tropical zoo, this top attraction features everything from sloths to parrots, exotic birds to rare reptiles. And, of course, it features hundreds of alligators and crocodiles from all over the world.

Daily feedings get you up-close-and-personal with some seriously hungry gators. This is the only place in the world where you can see the rare Indian gharial, with its long protruding snout, alongside giant albino alligators.

The Alligator Farm is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. We recommend visiting the website for an updated schedule on kid friendly events, like Zoo Camp, Night Zoo visits, Creatures of the Night, and the 3K Raptor Run.

Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park

The Fountain of Youth may be a simple myth for some, but it is a real location- right here in St. Augustine!

This archeological park celebrates Ponce de Leon’s time in the ancient city. Here you can visit the Timucua Village to see how Pedro Menendez de Aviles developed a distinct trading town. Blacksmith exhibits give you a genuine understanding of how blacksmiths formed tools at the time and excavations seek to unearth new discoveries.

A Navigators Planetarium offers insight into travel via the location of stars and the Nombre de Does Mission is a look at religious faith in the 1700’s. And while you hop around the various exhibits and halls, you’ll find peacocks freely roaming the grounds. It’s a treat to see these dazzling creatures pop up around the corner!

The Fountain of Youth is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Hyppo

The Hyppo is a well-renowned St. Augustine restaurant with multiple locations in the city. Regardless of where you visit, however, you have to partake in The Hyppo’s most popular treat- popsicles!

These natural popsicles come in a variety of fresh flavors, like strawberry, mango, mint, and more.  There are nearly 60 different flavors available based upon availability of fresh ingredients.

The Hyppo oozes character and is definitely a top spot to bring kids. Between its baked goods, assorted game boards, and wi-fi, you can all have a good afternoon. The Hyppo Coffee Bar is located across from Cobblestone Village at 1765 Tree Blvd., Suite 5. For other dining experiences explore some of St. Augustine’s best restaurants.

St. Augustine Aquarium

Head to the fringe of the city to see one of its newest attractions- the St. Augustine Aquarium. This aquarium is interactive and kids can actually get in the water with the tropical fish, snorkeling and spying for the most colorful of the lot. There are hundreds of reef fish and rays in the water, and you can snorkel with them all. Guided tours by local marine biologists, touch tanks, and shark painting help round out the experience. The St. Augustine Aquarium is also home to an awesome kid-friendly zipline. Soar above sharks- but don’t look down!

It is open Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
